TOURIST VISA

• Foreigners are required to obtain a Tourist Visa (sight seeing purpose only) before entering into Myanmar. Foreign national who apply for Tourist Visa must possess a valid national passport or Travel Document valid for travel to Myanmar.

• The validity of passport and Travel Document shall be at least six months from the date of entry into Myanmar.

• Visa Application Forms are obtainable at the Embassy's visa section free of charge. Forms can also be downloaded from our web site. 

• At present Myanmar Embassy in Tokyo is providing the following visa services:-

• Monday to Friday (Holiday List click here)

• 09:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (Visa Application Hours)

• 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.  (Visa Collection Hours)

• (12:00 ~ 13:00 pm lunch break)

• Processing Time five working days for the time being

• Tourist visa is divided into two categories: Foreign Independent Travellers (F.I.T) and Package Tour Groups. (Package Tour Groups of EVT (Package tour) visa applicants are required a confirmation letter from their respective land operator in Myanmar stating the names and passport nos. of the tour members. The confirmation letter should be confirmed by the land operator in Myanmar directly to the Embassy of the Union of Myanmar by fax or email. Land operator must be a registered company under Myanmar Company Act)

• Tourists may only stay in hotels and guesthouses during their visit in Myanmar.

• Valid for 3 months from the date of issued.

• Maximum duration of stay in Myanmar is 28 days (4-weeks)

• Visa fees is Yen- 3,000 per person

• Not extendable.        

 Requirements for the Tourist Visa Application

2. 1 original color photos (35 mm x 45 mm) of applicant taken recently, to be pasted on Tourist Visa Application forms.

   •     The photograph must have been taken within the last six months
   •     Identical photos must be submitted with the passport application
   •     The photograph should be in color and must be taken against a white or off-white background.
   •     Side or angled views are NOT accepted.
   •     The photograph for each visa applicant must be an unmounted, full face photo.
   •     Photo Size : (35 mm x 45 mm)
   •     Photo Appearance: The photograph must be a full-face view in which the visa applicant is
           facing the camera directly.
   •     Photocopied photographs are NOT accepted.

3. Valid Passport (valid for 6 months at least from the date of entry) with the available visa page. (Foreign nationals with proper visa (not temporary visitor visa) in Japan or foreign nationals who is residing in Japan must have Re-entry Permit to Japan issue by Japanese Immigration in their passport. 4. Completely filled out all the forms and signed by the applicant (Signature should be same as in the Passport). 

5. Job Certificate must be presented (Business Card, Leave letter, Copy of ID card or any evident of the present job), Retire person should present a copy of the Social Insurance Payment Certificate, Housewife and the applicants who has no job should present tax payment certificate.

6. Copy of Alien Registration Card (Gaijin Touroku Card) issued by the Japanese Government (in case of foreign national who is residing in Japan)

7. Schedule (Self plan or Package Tour plan for International and domestic schedule (Date of arrival to Myanmar, planned date, place to visit and hotel's names, date of departure from Myanmar)

8. Please ensure that completed address and contact phone numbers or mobile number (in case of no one at home) are included in your application.

9. Purpose should be sight-seen only (Applicants who are traveling Myanmar frequently for the Business trip should apply Business visa)

10. Visa fee Yen- 3,000 for each person should be transferred in advance (if you send your application through by mail) to the following account and submit the original receipt together with your application forms.

    Payment for the Visa

    • Visa Fees are unable to accept in cash from the 1st September 2007.
    • Payment from Internet is not acceptable.
    • Embassy's Bank Account type is CURRENT (Non-Resident) Account.  This type is not accepted by SUMITOMO MITSUI BANK CORP Bank's ATM machines. In that case please make payable at the SUMITOMO MITSUI BANK CORP Bank's  counter services or use the other banks' ATM machines.
